in james chapter 1, it talks about faith and endurance. in verses 3-4, it says, “For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.” so you know, when you’re running (haha i dont do that often), it hurts a little; but for your endurance to grow you have to push through it, even when you want to quit. then the next time you run, it wont hurt as bad. after this cycle happens repeatedly, you’ll be in great shape and ready to run a marathon! it’s the same thing with your faith. if you aren’t tested and aren’t tempted, your faith won’t grow. your endurance wont grow. so let it grow.
starting at verse 19, it goes into listening and doing. in my bible, i highlighted verse 19, “Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: you must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.” always listen and think, before you say something. have patience because anger won’t draw you closer to God or others.
“But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what is says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.” James 1:25
