Steven Curtis Chapman Hits Milestone With 50th Number One Song

What a week this has been for a longtime 20 The Countdown Magazine friend, Steven Curtis Chapman!  We try to never spoil who will be the number one song at the end of the show, but this is newsworthy!

Steven Curtis Chapman was already the most-awarded Christian music artist in history, and this week, his latest song, “Don’t Lose Heart,” has hit No. 1, making it his 50th number one song!  Isn’t that incredible!? Jon Rivers started 20 The Countdown Magazine just a couple of years before Steven’s first hit song, so literally this countdown show has played every single one of those 50 songs!

It all started with Steven’s first number one song back in 1988, “His Eyes.”  Do you remember this one?

We have not heard that song in years, but it is still such a timeless message!

We would love to hear from you. Call our listener line this week, and tell us what your favorite Steven Curtis Chapman song is! You now have 50 hits to choose from, and we might just feature you on next week’s show!

Congratulations to Steven Curtis Chapman on his 50th number one song! I began listening to Christian music in college and Steven quickly became and still is my favorite artist. The Great Adventure is still my favorite song and Don’t Lose Heart is a great one. I have also been privileged to make several music videos featuring some of his songs like “His Eyes”, “The Change”, “All Things New”, “Away in a Manger”, “Don’t Let the Fire Die” and “Weak Days”. I also made a video called “Forever Hope” about his life. I strive to live life like a Great Adventure, congrats Steven!

Just saw Steven in concert in Atlanta and what a joy. Great music! Great message! I wanted to hear 4 specific songs – The Great Adventure, Dive, Lord of the Dance, and my personal favorite, Fingerprints of God. He did not disappoint. I got to hear all of them. The highlight of the night was his story of how he was inspired to write The Great Adventure before performing it. Very encouraging.
